About Us

The Airdrie Scots Pipes & Drums started out of the garage of our Pipe Major, Kevin Fraser.  We began with Kevin’s pupils in piping and drumming. With a request to do the opening ceremonies for the Alberta Summer Games in Airdrie in 2014, the Band was born.

From this beginning, the Airdrie Scots formed the Airdrie Gaelic Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the band and promoting Celtic culture in the Airdrie area.

We are a non competing band.  Our pipers currently play at about a grade 3 level and our drum section is about a grade 5 level. We are always accepting new members.

We are looking at branching out away from being a traditional parade band Pipe Band.  This means we are looking to add to our skills and repertoire so that we could be more like the Red Hot Chili Pipers.

We have a working relationship with both a Scottish Country Dance group, a Highland Dance school as well as a Canadian Step Dance school.

We can help arrange lessons in piping and drumming for anyone in the Calgary/Airdrie area.
